The BSBC Veterans Day Service will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018.
The James C. Coats veteran Award is the epitome of recognition for excellence in demonstrating personal integrity in both a secular and Christian society. This award showcase the humble Christian spirit demonstrated in the daily walk of an individual military veteran. It recognizes excellence while honoring the namesake by highlighting a genuine Christian attitude that set the standard for leadership, compassion to mankind and brotherly love.
WHO CAN BE NOMINATED?
This award is open to all active duty military personnel, non-active duty veterans, or retired veterans in any branch of the United States Military Services, who is a member of the Bethlehem Star Baptist Church.
WHO CAN NOMINATE?
Anyone can nominate for the award as long as the person nominated meet the established criteria set forth in the required categories.
There are four (4) award categories:
CATEGORY 1—LEADERSHIP AND JOB PERFORMANCE – In this category you will describe significant leadership accomplishments and how well he or she performed assigned primary and additional duties. Include any new initiative/techniques developed by the nominee that positively impacted their jobs, to include awards they have received during the year.
CATEGORY 2—SIGNIFICANT SELF IMPROVEMENT
Show how he or she has developed or improved skills related to their job, i.e. OJT, formal training, certification, evangelism education related to their job and church.
CATEGORY 3—CHURCH AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Define the scope and impact of his or her positive leadership and involvement in both the church and community. Include leadership, membership, participation on committees (Advisory Councils, PTA etc.), (Church Ministries, Sunday school, Prayer meeting, Church Worship hour etc.).
CATEGORY 4—PERSONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Describe significant accomplishments that he or she have achieved in the past 12 months in a Christian or secular environment.
WHO WILL JUDGE THE AWARDS AND WHAT ARE THE JUDGES LOOKING FOR?
Each nomination will be considered by a panel of Retired military members from Bethlehem Star Baptist Church Brotherhood ministry: Chief Master Sergeant Retired Arthur Campbell and Chief Master Sergeant Retired Sam Brown Jr.
The judges will be looking for clearly demonstrated examples of the requested criteria in all four (4) categories.
HOW TO NOMINATE
This award nomination will be limited to twenty-five (25) lines single spaced typewritten.
SUBMISSION—NOMINATION WILL OPEN Sep 16, 2018 and closes Oct 15, 2018.
Entries will be placed in an envelope clearly marked with the submitter name, phone number and address on the outside of the envelope. The envelope will be returned to Deacon Arthur Campbell or Deacon Sam Brown Jr.
